Imation Corp. and Cemax-Icon, Inc. have strengthened their existing alliance to provide medical imaging customers in Europe with Image Management Systems (IMS) solutions.

Cemax-Icon will provide IMS application software under the agreement. Imation will sell, integrate and install both companies' hardware and software products in IMS that support network printing, radiological reading and clinical reviewing, and digital archiving. Imation will also provide customer training and post-installation support for the systems.

Cemax-Icon is a leader in medical IMS technology for both Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS) and teleradiology. Imation brings its world-leading 3M™ DryView™ Laser Imaging Technology by Imation™, plus its imaging network and digital storage products and technologies, to the partnership.

Both companies envision the alliance in Europe will result in successfully integrating Image Management Systems such as the one at Slagelse Central Hospital in Denmark. Working together, Imation and Cemax-Icon have set up a fully integrated, DICOM-compatible, digital radiology department there.

The system installed at Slagelse Central Hospital incorporates multiple Cemax-Icon AutoRad® workstations for primary soft-copy diagnostic-reading, plus the Cemax-Icon ArchiveManager 2.0 digital archiving system to manage data distributed throughout the hospital network.

It also includes 3M™ DryView™ 8700 Laser Imagers by Imation™ for remote hard-copy film printing, and Imation storage management software.
